Each and every Global Scissor is hand crafted from the finest Japanese metals by scissor smiths with decades of experience so you can be sure that what you hold is second to none quality backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defect. The Japanese metals Global Scissors are made from are typically : 9CR13 Cobalt, 440C surgical grade or VG10.
Cobalt 9CR13 is a supreme quality stainless steel with hardness reaching HRC 58-60 for supreme razor sharpness and durability.
Japanese 440C stainless steel is a type of modern steel famous for its high corrosion resistant, wear resistance, strength and hardness qualities. It allows the creation of a smooth polished surface and Razor sharp edges. It is being used in cutting instruments, high quality knife blades, surgical instruments and many other applications including engine components but most commonly used in the production of cutting tools, including high end hair cutting scissors.
VG10 or V Gold 10 high quality cutting Jananese stainless steel. This steel is very hard and also very tough. Has great edge retention and is surprisingly easy to sharpen. Made by Takefu Special Steel Company Japan, VG10 steel is a favourite by chefs for their knives and hairdressers for their scissors for its balance as a hard working knife or scissor and durability. Typically the steel has an HRC or hardness rating of 60-61.
